The domain I used for this tutorial was registered on Namecheap, and you can see that on the screenshots below.
First let’s login to NameCheap So we’ll open a new window, And then go to Namecheap.com Now click sign in, And then sign in into your account , So here you can see that we have the same domain which we added to Cloudflare
Now to change the nameservers of this domain, click on manage DNS, And then scroll down to nameservers and select custom name servers from the drop-down menu and enter the nameservers provided by Cloudflare, once you’re done, click Save to proceed to the next step.
So now that we have successfully added the nameservers to our domain, let’s go back to Cloudflare And then click continue Now to check if the nameservers have been successfully changed.
Let’s click recheck now And you will get this message And now if we click refresh You should see a green icon or message Which means your nameservers have been changed. Now even if you don’t see this green icon immediately, give it some time and refresh the page. In the meantime, you can still proceed to the next step, everything will work out fine eventually.
Step 4:
So once you have added your nameservers You can now go to step four Which is to install the free ssl plugin in WordPress. To install the plugin let’s go to WordPress And then go to plugins And click add new. Now search for flexible SSL And you will get this plugin.
The next thing to do is to install and activate this plugin. Now that were have installed the free SSL Cloudflare plugin, let’s proceed to the final step.
Step 5:
For the final step, we need to ‘Enable SSL in Cloudflare’, and to do this, let’s go back to Cloudflare And then click this lock icon.
Now scroll down to Always Use HTTPS And turn it on Now as soon as you turn this on Your website will now be secured with SSL. To check this, simply visit your website and reload the page.
Now if you go to your site You can see that before we had this not secure message But now if we click refresh You can see that we now have the lock And the HTTPS which means you have successfully installed free SSL certificate WordPress on your website.
In some cases, it might take between 20-30 mins before the free SSL certificate can become active, so even if you still don’t have the lock and HTTPS on your page after all the steps, exercise a little patience and refresh your page after some time, it will surely come through as long as you followed the steps mentioned in this article.
